I’ve been reading the buzz in the lit-crit world about whether most memoirs should be written or published at all. Apparently, some people don’t like reading about ordinary lives—as if any of them are. Disdain for memoirs where nothing much is uncovered, discovered, or recovered is big, too. People, get a grip!
